Character Profile: Calvin Neil

General Description

Calvin is a high-ranking Magic Knight who works closely with the higher-ups for special operations that he can carry out on his own. Thanks to the magic crystal prosthetics in place of his arms, as well as the ones equipped to his boots, he serves as the first aerial fighter with a mastery over wind and martial artes. Although cold and distant, he has a strong desire to protect others within his grasp.

Fighting Style

While he is capable of using magic artes, he mainly uses his mana to enhance his melee combat, such as increasing the speed of his kicks, providing stability, airtime, and more. He'll also conjure arms/hands to do additional damage or take flight. His range in spells are about on par with Aki, though his magic capacity is slightly higher. He is also more frail than Aki, but his power and speed make up for it.

Inspiration

Calvin, I feel is mostly inspired by Regal from Symphonia, given his unique fighting style amongst all the brawler/monk characters in the franchise. I also want to say that his overall personality is similar to characters like Dezel or Leon, where they tend to be distant or not as social, but they still have a soft spot or have kind moments.

Story

Calvin was raised alongside his brother, Aine, and they both became knights with their father, Grant, who is the acting general for the kingdom's military. Eventually, he headed his own squad of knights who looked up to him and he treated with respect. However, on one mission he ended up losing everyone to a dangerous foe, as well as his two arms. Although eventually assigned to assist Aki's group on their pilgrimage, he tries not to become too attached in case something were to happen to them. But nevertheless, his desire to protect others never falters; be it his new arms or his legs.

Wrap-Up

I had a little more work done to the Arena, implemented a light plugin that I plan to fiddle around with  to perfectly catch the feeling of being in an underground city powered by magic. I might also try out another plugin that may use passive abilities that could act as this game's "Skill" mechanic. It'll take some time, but I think once I have Piper's essential animations commissioned, I'll get a working demo out. At least so that you can try out the 'Solo' and 'Group' battles.
