Progress Report: Story and Possible Battle Feature


Over the course of last week, I got to continue the story and was able to get about halfway through the current story event that takes place on a train, when pirates begin attacking. I decided to look for a placeholder for the pirates you fight here and managed to find a really nice looking sprite battler that is pretty close to the style of the main cast's battler sprites. This was made by Mattz Art (link below), and it comes in green; I had to colorize it to produce a variant. Colored variants are to be expected, especially if I lack alternatives. Of course, I'll still need to find time to create normal sprite versions that look closer to the battle model than the standard lizard/dragonman sprites that the generator lets me make. Especially since this is where we get introduced to a future main character and their named friends.

Now, the other thing to discuss goes back to earlier attempts at being able to assign artes or passive skills. However, this time, I think it would be best if I limit this to artes. There are going to be a lot of artes, and rather than go through a whole list (especially if I end up going with a time-based system), you should be able to pick and choose which ones to take with you into battle. There would be items to help expand the number of artes you can use at once.


Unfortunately, the current plugin still shows Passive Skills, and none of the notetags seem to let me hide it in this menu without it hiding in all the others. I'm looking at potential alternatives, but this is what's keeping me from fully implementing it.

Beyond that, I'll be busy with other projects this week, so I don't think I'll have an update next week.
