Character Sprites: Sheria + Plugin Update
This week, I've found time to create a base sheet for Sheria, one of several supporting pirate characters related to Krista. She isn't actually in the immediate scene I'm currently working on, but I felt like wanting to make sprites for the named crew members now so I can work out this and later scenes. I'll also need to create sprites for Fuya's friends, as they'll be appearing in the current scene as well. They'll all be done as I'm able, but that might be a while because...VisuStella released another set of plugins. One that appears to be the last they'll be doing, but one that I can actually use.
I've been using Fomar's Passive Skill equip plugin for a long time, and while I do like it, it is definitely not very compatible with the rest of the plugins I have. With this, I now have something that will work more closely with the other VS plugins, and I'm hoping to maybe work with the Battle Skills plugin in a way that they aren't listed with the artes in an attempt to let a set number of artes to be used. If not, I'll at least have a more comprehensive way to use Passive Skills, and I'll even be able to streamline learning abilities in this way. Especially given the second plugin to bring up.
According to the creators, this plugin was inspired by the title system from Tales of Graces, where each character has a number of titles they can obtain and they grant benefits. I can actually take advantage of this since this would show up in the Equip menu, thus being easier to incorporate titles and come up with even more than I currently have. I'm also considering using it to replace the current method of having Titles, where it used the Class Change plugin. While I would have to come up with an alternative to when and how you earn skills to learn, it would at least solve the problem of having to mess with the UI to account for some things.
Now this last plugin I got just because I bought the entire set for the price of two plugins (i.e. the first two). I'm going to wait a while before I give this one a try. It seems like it could be useful, and even solve an issue I have with enemy placement. I will know for sure if I can use it once I get to a certain part in the story where it would make sense to introduce it, assuming I can control the grid at will. It does seem interesting, and with the artes I already have that make use of multi-hit moves, then this would be even more helpful in the long run.
Wrap-Up
The first two plugins I definitely want to implement, though it might be a while since it seems the Equip Passive one doesn't want to work with Skill Learn like it said it would (though it is early access atm), so I'll be resuming sprite work and continuing the story when able. Sprite-making tends to be pretty tough, especially when it comes to doing hair, but I feel that with time and patience I can make it happen; so long as I have the right base to modify. Things are always subject to change as time goes on, but at least I'll have something than nothing.
