Character Sprites: Bluebeard Pirates and Dark Wings

I reached a point in the story that some characters of interest would appear, so I took the time to create sprites of them. For what skill I currently have, I like to say they aren't half-bad for someone like me. Going in order of significance, let's begin with...

The Bluebeard Pirates

From the start, I wanted to have a pirate character, which of course became Krista. She is the only member in her crew to be a mammal while everyone else is reptilian or amphibian. Her captain (also her adoptive father) goes by the name Bluebeard because he is a unique kind of frilled lizard that has hair. I actually based him off of a monster from Yu-Gi-Oh! called the Blizzard Lizard.

Given the type of world I have, I want to try and have some variety of animal people that aren't of the usual Earth variety. Of course, that also depends on the resources I can find. I can only do so much with modifying, especially without reference material. Speaking of, here is the art used as reference material:

Now, outside of Bluebeard, I don't remember if I had asked Princessnapped to create original pirates when I commissioned that other piece of art of Krista (found in her profile page) or if I had a say in what kind they are. Either way, I had to include them as they are close companions to Krista, and I think I did a relatively good job capturing their likeness to sprite form. I can always fix them up overtime, or if I somehow obtain a large sum of money, I could always get someone else to do it. I can only do so much on my own, and I can only commission so much with what I have.

You might have also noticed that Krista's sprite is a little taller than the one I first made. As I became more comfortable with trying taller sprites, I thought to apply it to Krista since she is supposed to be bigger than most characters. I will also apply this to Nishi, and possibly Vera. It also depends on if I can get it within the sheet parameters without needing to mess with the dimensions to ensure they appear right.

The Dark Wings

And now we come to the Dark Wings, comprising of Fuya, Eseld, and Subira. The latter two are based off the second piece of art I have for them, though I am including the first one I commissioned for them.

Essentially, Fuya acts as the headstrong leader who decides for most of their actions. Subira would act as range support, while Eseld is the mage and brains for the group. I have plans for them storywise, which may or may not have already been brought up before.

Now What?

I will return to getting the current story event done, so that I will be ready for the next set of updates for the plugins I have. I want to see if I can get the newer ones to work and maybe use them to update the Prologue or Arena Demo(s) to give them a try. Hopefully it won't take me as long to do than the sprite work I've been doing, right?
